Cecilia's Beauty Salon

Brand Identity & Marketing Strategy
A brand identity that stands out amongst the crowd and reflects the bright personality of a young South African entrepreneur.

Cecilia specializes in braiding, styling, and selling hair products for South African Women. She plans on expanding her product line and employees by the end of the year. So she needed a brand identity that will stand out amongst her nearby competition.

Background Story

I had the amazing opportunity to work and travel to Cecilia who is a bright, hard working entrepreneur from a township in ​Khayelitsha, South Africa. ​Khayelitsha is the largest township in Cape Town and is best known for its entrepreneurial spirit and social development projects. Cecilia not only runs her own hair salon but also supports her community by providing hair services to the neighborhood orphans, church members, and her communities families. Fun fact, I had the opportunity to experience Cecilias talent first hand by her doing my hair!

Target Audience

The audience is primarily African adult women ages 20 – 60 and children ages 6-18. The main target consumer is adult women who require quick appointments done with excellent quality of style and longevity.

Salon Logo

Cecelia wanted a logo that was fun, colorful, and most importantly highlighted her sought after skill for braiding hair. I created this logo with those attributes in mind and to also reflect her bright bubbly personality to further emphasize attention in the salons environment.

Branding & Collateral 

Paired with the logo I created a fun upbeat pattern. This pattern was used across the board of assets and materials we provided the salon and its employees to create cohesion and be visually joyful.

Building Community Abroad

Additionally to the design work, I helped Cecilia learn to market her company, how to get the word out for potential clients, and brainstormed ideas together to ensure success and growth.
